Pulsatil Opens the Atelier Doors: A Glimpse Into the Making of Light
Pulsatil, the Lyon-based lighting atelier known for its quietly architectural approach to illumination, develops collectible luminaires where technical precision and atmosphere exist in perfect balance.
For Pulsatil, a luminaire begins long before it emits light. Behind each piece lies a quiet process of experimentation, technical precision, and material research, where ideas move carefully between imagination and engineering before ever reaching their final form.
Before production begins, the atelier develops a series of prototypes using a combination of technological experimentation and in-house "hacks" to test how each piece behaves in reality. Light diffusion, heat management, structure, assembly methods, and finishes are all studied through successive iterations. For first-time productions, the process becomes even more meticulous: individual components are tested separately, finishes are validated on smaller elements, and additional verification phases ensure that every detail performs exactly as intended.
