ALULA DESIGN AWARD

The AlUla Design Award is an international initiative led by the Royal Commission for AlUla through Arts AlUla, driven by a clear ambition: to establish AlUla as a global crossroads for contemporary design. The program is rooted in a strategic vision—bringing millennia-old heritage into dialogue with contemporary creation, and traditional craftsmanship into conversation with sustainable innovation. Inspired by AlUla’s spectacular landscapes and rich cultural legacies, the award invites designers to conceive objects and fashion pieces that translate the territory’s identity into a distinctly contemporary language.

The mission of the AlUla Design Award is built upon three core pillars: celebrating the ingenuity of artisanal craftsmanship, creating an international platform for experimentation, and enabling the tangible production of selected projects. Through categories such as product design and fashion, finalists receive support for prototyping, benefit from institutional exhibitions, and gain access to commercial distribution channels, notably within AlUla’s cultural ecosystem.

The 2026 edition, presented as part of the AlUla Arts Festival, revolves around the theme “The Ingenuity of the Human Hand,” honoring the hand as a vessel of memory, transmission, and innovation. This fourth edition places particular emphasis on materiality, sustainability, and craftsmanship, while bringing together an international jury and emerging talents from around the world. By further strengthening its cultural and creative positioning, the award reaffirms AlUla’s ambition to become a living laboratory—where tradition and modernity converge to shape the narratives of tomorrow’s design.
