In 2025, Galerie Promitto is focusing its programming on the work of Marc Held, a leading figure in design and architecture.

A decisive encounter : Valérie Guérin & Marc Held

The collaboration between Valérie Guérin and Marc Held had its roots in 2014, when they met at the Musée des Arts décoratifs for the signing of Marc Held's book, 50 ans de design, written by Michèle Champenois and published by Éditions Norma.

From that moment on, a dialogue began around their shared passion for design, architecture and excellent craftsmanship. This relationship has grown over the years, notably during a stay at Marc Held's home in Skopélos, Greece, where Valérie Guérin discovered his creative universe: sculptural furniture, an aerial shelf with anchors, and an enchanting garden designed by the designer.

An iconic piece of furniture from the '70s

CULBUTO marked a radical departure from traditional furniture.

Born of Marc Held's visionary spirit and the possibilities offered by the new materials of the time, it is distinguished by its enveloping fiberglass shell and unique rounded base, allowing a gentle rocking movement. This armchair embodies the optimism, modernity and quest for new forms of informal, playful comfort characteristic of the 60s and 70s.

Its bold design, both sculptural and ergonomic, has made it a unanimously acclaimed masterpiece of design history.
