Material Intelligence: Pulsatil Designs with the Natural Behavior of Materials

From the translucency of alabaster to the reflective qualities of metal and the permanence of stone, Pulsatil considers material an active part of illumination, not simply a finish.

For Pulsatil, choosing a material begins with a simple question: what can it do with light?

Rather than approaching bronze, alabaster, aluminum, or marble primarily as decorative finishes, the Lyon-based lighting atelier considers their inherent qualities: the way a surface reflects, how a mineral diffuses, or how the weight and density of stone give an object presence. These characteristics become part of the design itself, influencing not only how a luminaire looks, but how it performs and how its light is experienced.
